It’s been an absolutely crazy time with lockdown and COVID-19 turning the world upside down. That said, we soldier on and continue in the new normal! In the midst of all this happening, a number of developments have come from my side, and I wanted to share those as well as some up-and-coming initiatives.
Online Learning Now Available
My first course, Privacy@Home, was launched a week ago. This 1.5 hour course details the basics of securing your home computer, seeing as though a whole host of people are now working from home (who wouldn’t ordinarily). The course covers:
- The importance of strong passwords and Multi-Factor Authentication
- How to spot and avoid Phishing and Malware
- Privacy of information: confidentiality still applies at home
- The importance of updates for your computer and networking equipment
- Encryption: why it’s important and how to use it
For the duration of lockdown, this course is available at a “pay what you want” deal. If you’re battling to make ends meet, take the course for free! It’s important to secure your home computer. After lockdown, the course goes back to it’s regular price of R250.

Help Me Out – Data Protection for Software Companies
I am in the process of writing my second book, which specifically details the challenges and nuances that a software development company faces in terms of Data Protection, Privacy legislation and Cyber Security. I am currently gathering more information on specific challenges that software companies face when it comes to these challenges, and as such have released a survey.
If you are (or know of) a CISO, Information Officer, or someone otherwise in charge of Data Privacy and InfoSec at a software company, please complete my survey here. Those that take part in the survey will receive signed copies of the book as soon as it’s released. Kindly note that this offer and survey is restricted to software development companies (B2B or B2C).
